Our aim
Verrin Cardiology wants this website to work for everyone who needs it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, a magnifier, browser zoom or reduced-motion settings. This page says plainly where it stands today.
What we measured
On 11 September 2026 we measured the colour contrast of every line of visible text on every page of this website, including every condition and test page, at desktop, tablet and phone widths. We compared each one with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA thresholds: 4.5 to 1 for normal text, and 3 to 1 for large text.
- 4,830 pieces of text were scored across 21 pages and three widths, and all 4,830 met the AA threshold. Before this round of fixes, 477 did not.
- Text that sits on a photograph was not scored by the tool, because the photograph behind it changes. Labels on photographs sit on a darkened panel that keeps them readable even over a white image.
- 446 pieces of text sit on photographs and were not scored, for the reason above.
- We also moved through every page with the keyboard at desktop, tablet and phone widths. Every link, button and form field could be reached with the Tab key, and every one showed a focus ring with at least 3 to 1 contrast against what sits behind it.
What the site does
- Animations and smooth scrolling switch off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Every link, button and form field shows a clear ring when you move through the page with the keyboard. The ring has a dark edge and a light edge, so it shows on light and dark backgrounds and on photographs.
- You can reach every link, button and form field with the Tab key, in the order you see them on the page. The page scrolls so the item you are on is not hidden under the header.
- On phones and tablets, the menu takes your focus when it opens, keeps it inside until you close it, closes with the Escape key, and puts you back on the menu button.
- Pages work from 320 pixels wide upwards, without sideways scrolling, and the menu opens and closes on phones and tablets.
- Each page has one main heading and its own title.
- Form fields have visible labels, and form errors are announced to screen readers.
Where we fall short
- Some headings build up word by word as you scroll. The words are dim for a moment before they reach full strength.
- Automated checks cannot measure everything. We have not yet had this website tested by disabled people, and we do not claim that it meets every WCAG requirement.
Changing the colours
This note is for whoever looks after this website. The colours come from seven named colour styles: Porcelain, Ink, Arterial, Mist, Slate, Night and Bone. If you change them, small text picks a readable shade of your colour against its background automatically. Check contrast again after any change, especially for text on photographs.
